About Leichhardt Espresso Chorus

The LEICHHARDT ESPRESSO CHORUS is a non-auditioned choir from Sydney’s inner west. We are a vibrant, enthusiastic group who love to perform with caffeine-fuelled energy! The chorus is committed to innovation and excellence, proudly supporting the commissioning of new Australian choral works and the presentation of traditional repertoire.

Over the past 12 years, the LEC has commissioned more than a dozen new choral commissions and countless orchestral arrangements. We aim to invigorate community singing. (More)

Annual Events

Annually we have a full calendar of events that typically includes:
Carols on Norton, our free outdoor community concert with Orchestra and 100 voices, thanks to our supporters.

  • Performance of both traditional and fresh new choral works.
  • Involvement in various community events such as the Performance Space Housewarming at CarriageWorks (2007), Battle of the Choirs (Seven Network 2008) and Choir of the Year (ABC Classic FM 2007) where the choir was named NSW Runner up.
  • Working with other organisations in commercial productions such as the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Sydney (Sydney Football Stadium 2010) and the Stomp program with the Lost and Found Orchestra as part of the Festival of Sydney (Sydney Opera House 2007).

Mentoring program

The chorus has a proud tradition of mentoring the Moorambilla regional children’s choirs as part of the Moorambilla Festival in Coonamble, outback NSW each September. We encourage the formation of adult choirs in the region through our involvement with the Festival as its choir in residence, a position we have held since 2006.
