Massed Choir Information

Have you wanted to join a choir but find that you just can't commit time every week? Well, you can perform with a great choir after just one weekend of rehearsals! Join Artistic Director Michelle Leonard and the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus for a spectacular weekend of workshops and a grand performance of Handel's Messiah in March 2012.

Sing with a full orchestra and stunning soloists - no audition required.

A Marrickville Messiah features the famous Messiah work for choir, orchestra and soloists by George Frideric Handel. It is produced by the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus under Artistic Director Michelle Leonard. We provide MP3 files for each voice part to help you learn your part.

During the performance, the massed choir will sing most of the choruses, while some choruses will feature Leichhardt Espresso Chorus on its own.

Michelle Leonard will conduct the ensemble in the beautiful Marrickville Town Hall at 3pm on Sunday 25 March 2012. Michelle Leonard is our Artistic Director and is conducting rehearsals and the performance. Michelle has much experience in working with large choirs of all kinds and is very easy to work with!

The vocal soloists are Allegra Giagu (soprano), David Yardley (alto), Richard Black (tenor) and Alexander Knight (baritone). Tickets will be available from this website from the start of March 2012.

Register before 29 February

Note that members of Leichhardt Espresso Chorus do not need to register here. Registration is only for members of the massed choir.

When you register, we will ask you to nominate your vocal part (soprano, alto, tenor, bass); whether you need a Messiah score; and to provide your contact details. You can register multiple singers in one process if you like.

Upon completion of the process, Trybooking.com provides a registration ticket for you to print and bring along to the first rehearsal. You will also get a welcoming email from Artistic Director Michelle Leonard. We will contact you in February with details of how you can access the MP3 learning aids and to provide you by email with other details.

We will be working from the Oxford University Press (now Urtext) edition of the Messiah score. We can supply this if you need it. If you already own a Messiah score, that's fine, you can work from it. Performance wear is "stylish, to-the-floor black, with bling"! We will provide details of our rehearsals meal deal (optional) closer to the date.

If you would like further information, you can email Richard at membership@espressochorus.com.au.
