Allegra Giagu


Young Australian-born Soprano, Allegra Giagu, gave her Sydney Opera House debut at the age of eleven, and has since performed as a soloist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, with the Sydney Symphony and with many respected conductors, directors and ensembles throughout the UK, continental Europe and Australasia.

A graduate of London's Royal College of Music, she has appeared on film soundtracks including Baz Luhrmann's 'Moulin Rouge', advertisements, television and a recent campaign for the new Gucci scent, 'Flora', and in most major Australian and UK publications with lead-page publicity and editorial in Madison Magazine, RUSSH Magazine, Limelight Magazine, Sounds Like Sydney, the Telegraph and Sun Herald, The Stage, Time Out and WHO Weekly.

Allegra was the soloist for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo - Salute to Australia, viewed by over five-million people internationally. She has also performed for the Dalai Lama at the Sydney Opera House; at St Peters in the Vatican City, and for the first carols of the season, broadcast on ClassicFM UK Radio, with Dame Judi Dench, Aled Jones and other British celebrities to raise funds for the Story of Christmas charity appeal held each year at St George’s Hanover Square.

Allegra continues to tour internationally during 2011/12, with recent engagements including an Australian recital tour, combining chamber and solo recital performances with a return to the Sydney Opera House, a scholarship to attend the Wiener Meisterkurse 2011 in Austria, and her Debut on London’s West End as the Principal Soprano for the Ilythian Ensemble, in Chloe Charody's highly acclaimed Circus Opera "The Carnival".
