Luke Byrne

Pianist, Composer and Arranger.

Luke Byrne is active around Australia as a pianist, musical director, director and composer/arranger.

Luke’s career in music is varied and prolific. In recent times he has been assistant musical director for The Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and Little Ragged Blossom for The Sydney Festival and Perth Festival, musical director and arranger for John Williamson’sQuambatook and musical director/actor for Kookaburra Touring, a program that travels to schools throughout NSW. Luke’s other recent credits as musical director include The World’s Wife for the Melbourne Theatre Company and The Last Five Years for Railway St Theatre, and as composer and musical director for The Eight: Reindeer Monologues at Downstairs Belvoir and The Fire Raisers at The Old Fitzroy.

Luke has also worked on many cabarets including Love for SaleLittle Black Book and The Fabulous Frances Faye. In 2008 Luke was musical supervisor as well as principal arranger and musical director for Tyran Parke’s debut CD Sunday in the Parke which received critical acclaim around the world.

Luke works with the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus as an accompanist, pianist and arranger and with other choirs including The Australian Girl's ChoirMoorambilla Festival Choirs, Sydney Philharmonia Vox Choir and Gondwana Choirs

In March 2009 Luke’s song Immortal Beloved was performed live on Sunday Live for ABC Classic FM by Billie McCarthy with the LEC. Luke has recently had two major works commissioned by the LEC that were performed at St James Cathedral and the Italian Forum Cultural Centre to great audience acclaim.
