Christina LeonardChristina Leonard - Soprano Saxophone

Christina is committed to expanding the repertoire of Australian music, and is very involved in the arrangement, commissioning and concert promotion of music in new and exciting frameworks.

Christina has directed and performed in many solo and ensemble recitals and made recordings and live broadcasts for both 2MBS FM and ABC Classic FM.

She is co-artistic director of the Saxophone Quartet 'Compass' who have just released a CD of original Tango music with guest artists Marcello Maio - Piano Accordion and Julian Curwin - Guitar on the Tall Poppies label, and has recorded a CD of Baroque repertoire with Marshall McGuire (Harp) and Danny Yeadon ('cello) as well as a CD of music by Piazzolla, Ginastera and Guastavino with pianist Matt McMahon to be released by Move Records.

Christina has also preformed and recorded with the Sonic Art Ensemble and the Alpha Ensemble, is a permanent casual with both the Australian Opera Ballet and Sydney Symphony Orchestras, and was Soprano Saxophonist on the 2008 SSO tour of Italy.

Christina is the founder and Artistic Director of the chamber ensemble 'The Collective' (Sophie Cole, Daniel Yeadon, Bernadette Balkus) and received an Australia Council grant to commission two new works for the ensemble which were recorded by ABC Classic FM in 2008.

Christina is a core member of the Sydney Soloists.

Billie McCarthy - Vocalist, composer

A graduate of Newtown School of Performing Arts. Billie is one of Sydneys most exciting live performers.

Moving easily between jazz standards and torch light through classical hymns and Irish drinking songs she injects her performances with fun and warmth.! She lists her influences as coming from a myriad of sources... "My Mum Kate McCarthy and my dad Johnny Green, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Erykah Badu, Donny Hathaway, Bill Withers, India Arie, John Coltrane, Dolly Parton, Jill Scott, Ngaiire Josephs, Etta James, Chick Corea, and on and on..."

Billie is an entertainer and educator - a regular live performer in venues such as the Vanguard, the Factory and Basement, she is also an energetic workshop presenter. She has composed and performed carols with the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus' annual Carols on Norton series. Appeared on ABC Radio National's Sunday Live and has been a top 12 finalist in the very first Australian Idol.

Nadia PiaveNadia Piave - Vocalist

Italo-Australian Soprano Nadia Piave is a performer and teacher working in all areas of vocal music. She has performed on numerous occasions throughout Australia and Europe, and is well-known for her enchanting performance style. In Sydney Nadia has worked with Early Music ensembles Salut! Baroque, Sydney Consort, Brandenburg Choir and her own Trio Bassano with Matthew Ridley and Tommie Andersson. In Cabaret and Art Song Nadia performs with pianists Sally Whitwell as duo une fois seul, Paul Myers performing German language art song and Kabarett, and with Mauro Colombis in Italian repertoire from the 19th century through to contemporary cabaret.
Nadia's list of performances and collaborations is many and varied. In Sydney Nadia has performed for Musica Viva, ABC FM, L'Alliance Francaise de Sydney, Italian Cultural Association, Government House House Music series, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Café Carnivale and has been, since 2007, a guest soloist with the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus.

In 2008 Nadia released her first CD, Rose, a collection of nostaligic French and Italian love songs through the ages, and was named the National Italian-Australian Woman of the Year by the National Italian-Australian Women's Association.

Nadia teaches singing throughout Sydney.

Luke RobinsonLuke Robinson - Percussionist and Musical Educator

Luke Robinson is a percussionist who has played with Leichhardt Espresso Chorus at many rehearsals and performances since the choir was formed in 1998. Luke is also a professional event manager whose expertise has helped us to produce numerous events over that time.


Paul GoodchildPaul Goodchild - Trumpet

Trumpeter Paul Goodchild joined the Sydney Symphony Orchestra nearly 30 years ago. He is also Musical Director of Sydney Brass, bringing together instrumentalists with a vast array of musical talent and expertise. Paul has a wealth of experience in the professional music world and is able to capture that perfect sound.

Craig EveringhamCraig Everingham - Baritone

Craig Everingham studied music in Newcastle, Sydney and Manchester (UK) and awards and scholarships enabled him to study further in Europe. His international performances have included the Salzburg Festival (Austria), the Batignano Festival (Italy), Verdi's Requiem in Leeds (UK), the role of Marcello (la Boheme) for the RNCM and recital and oratorio performances throughout the UK.

Since returning to Australia on 2000 Craig has sung with the Opera Australia Chorus, Pinchgut Opera and Opera Hunter. Craig has been involved in numerous performances with the vocal ensemble Cantillation and has appeared with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra both as soloist and part of the ensemble.
